walk to art takes you to art. Art in the street, art in artist-run spaces, art in galleries. All hidden in Melbourne. walk to art is about breaking down the barriers: the intimidation of walking into an art gallery or studio, and the fear of not knowing how to look at, feel or describe art.
walk to art is an introduction to this world, so you do not need prior knowledge or a degree in fine arts to join the walking tour. During three hours, you will be chatting, socializing and learning from art dealers and artists, always guided by an art consultant who has a passion for walking and discovering.
At the end of the walking tour, you will receive a "starter pack", which will help you continue on your journey of art discovery. It includes magazines, discounts for memberships and subscriptions at art-related venues, and postcards for upcoming exhibition openings. You can also subscribe to our free e-newsletter, and we will keep you posted on exhibitions, galleries and previews in Melbourne.
After three hours of strolling, the group will stop for fabulous wine and cheese, so that everyone will have an opportunity to share and discuss their ideas with the guide and other tour participants.
Where? The tour itinerary is always changing and the destinations (located in the Melbourne CBD and inner city suburbs) are revealed on the day of the walk. You will be notified of the meeting place by post, email or telephone.
When? The walking tours operate Wednesday and Saturday, in all weather conditions. The tours take approximately three hours (with an extra hour of cheese and wine after the walk). Contact walk to art for private tours (also check our corporate art tours).
Meeting time? 1.45pm (for a 2pm departure). Start to finish: 1.45pm–6pm approximately (including the extra hour of cheese and wine after the tour).
How many? The groups have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 people.
How much? $98 per person, including a "starter pack" and wine and cheese at the end of the walking tour. Gift vouchers are available.
Payment options? Please contact walk to art to arrange the payment. Your participation can only be confirmed upon receipt of full payment.
Cancellations? If you cancel your participation more than seven days in advance, 90% will be reimbursed. Two to seven days in advance, 50% will be reimbursed. Within 48 hours prior to the tour, refunds will not be available. Please note: for private groups, corporate tours and bookings with more than eight people, the normal cancellation policy does not apply. Once confirmation is received by email, a 50% non refundable deposit is to be paid within 7 days of agreement. The balance is to be paid 7 days prior to the walk. If the tour is cancelled after the balance has been paid, unfortunately a refund is not available. The tour date can be changed if a more suitable date is requested and available. If walk to art is forced to cancel a booked tour, payments will be fully refunded.
Tips? Leave glamorous heels at home, eat before the tour and, if you will need a sugar fix, bring a snack pack. walk to art will supply a bottle of water before we begin the tour. There are toilet stops along the way.
