walk to art takes you to art. To street art, art in artist-run spaces, art in galleries, art in studios. All hidden in Melbourne. walk to art is about breaking down the barriers: the intimidation of walking into an art gallery or studio, and the fear of not knowing how to look at, feel or describe art.

walk to art takes you behind the scenes to Melbourne's remarkable art community. It is an introduction to this world, so you do not need previous knowledge or a degree in fine arts to join the walking tour. During a few hours, you will be chatting, socializing and learning from creators and art educators, always guided by an art consultant who has a passion for walking, food and culture.

At the end of the walking tour, you will receive a "starter pack", which will help you continue on your journey of art discovery. It includes magazines, discounts for memberships and subscriptions at art-related venues, and postcards for upcoming exhibition openings. You can also subscribe to our free e-newsletter, check our blog and stay with touch with Twitter, and we will keep you posted on exhibitions, galleries and previews in Melbourne.

After hours of strolling, the group will stop for fabulous wine (along with cheese, depending on the tour you choose), so everyone will have an opportunity to discuss their ideas with the guide and tour participants.

Where? The tour itinerary is always changing and the destinations (located in the Melbourne CBD and, depending on the tour you choose, inner city suburbs) are revealed on the day of the walk. You will be notified of the meeting place by post, email or telephone.

There are currently 2 walking tours to choose from:

Option 1 – Full tour (book your tour)

When? Wednesday and Saturday, in all weather conditions

Meeting time? 2pm

Duration? Approximately 4 hours (including one hour of cheese and wine). Contact walk to art for private tours (also check our corporate art tours)

Where? Melbourne CBD and inner city suburbs

How many? The groups have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 people

How much? $108 (including GST) per person, including coffee, bottled water, a "starter pack" and wine and cheese at the end of the walking tour. Gift vouchers available

Option 2 – Express Friday tour (book your tour)

When? Friday, in all weather conditions

Meeting time? 2pm

Duration? Approximately 2.5 hours (including half hour of wine and chatting). Contact walk to art for private tours (also check our corporate art tours)

Where? Melbourne CBD

How many? The groups have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 people

How much? $78 (including GST) per person, including coffee, bottled water, a "starter pack" and wine at the end of the walking tour. Gift vouchers available

Payment options? Please contact walk to art to arrange the payment by Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, cash or direct deposit (prior to the tour). Your participation can only be confirmed upon receipt of full payment

Cancellations? If you cancel your participation more than 7 days in advance, 90% will be reimbursed. However, 2 to 7 days in advance, 50% will be reimbursed. Within 48 hours prior to the tour, refunds will not be available. For private groups, corporate tours and bookings with more than 8 people, the normal cancellation policy does not apply. Once confirmation is received by email, a 50% non refundable deposit is to be paid within 7 days of agreement. The balance is to be paid 7 days prior to the walk. If the tour is cancelled after the balance has been paid, a refund will not be available. The tour date can be changed if a more suitable date is requested and available. If walk to art is forced to cancel a booked tour, payments will be fully refunded

Tips? Leave glamorous heels at home, eat before the tour and, if you will need a sugar fix, bring a snack pack. walk to art will supply a bottle of water before we begin the tour. There are toilet stops along the way
